Tidbits, or rather, a little break from them
Giving myself a little grace
Hello beautiful humans!
My life lately has been a bit wild—with difficult things, and truly beautiful things. I feel alive and proud of how I am taking them each as they are, day by day. What would have sent me into a long neurodivergent shut down a year ago has now, as one guided meditation I like says, become “part of the human experience.”
While this “Tidbits” email is short and drops the usual structure, I will share this beautiful idea from adrienne maree brown, whose teachings you might have noticed I adore.
…I keep intentionally expanding my sensual awareness and decolonizing it so that I can sense more pleasure than capitalism believes in.
To me, these senses can be any of them: one of the five you probably learned in school, or these three that are getting more attention now: vestibular sense, proprioception, and interoception. The vestibular sense is about balance and movement, proprioception is knowing where you are in relation to other parts of your environment, and interoception is knowing what is happening inside your body.
If you turn up some music you love and move to it, you’ll get to explore all three.
I know I’m going to make sure I do that very soon.
With love, Veronica
Mentioned in this issue: A specific guided meditation in Insight Timer, Pleasure Activism by adrienne maree brown, and the senses (honestly I haven’t looked at this link closely, but the graphic about “The Three Hidden Senses” covers what I understand about them), which I learned about in this Shortwave podcast episode, “Our More-Than-Five Senses.”
We live in capitalism, and money is how we communicate value. If you can spare some, drop it my way.
